- The Hungarian Multicultural Center is currently accepting applications for the Budapest-International Artist/Writer Residencies.
- Live Historic invites artists to an Open House at their recently-purchased enclave of vintage buildings on Seattle's Capitol Hill known as the BelBoy, which they are making into condominiums. Before putting the condos on the market, Live Historic is offering them to the arts community at discounted prices, with financial assistance opportunities. They will also offer artists the choice to purchase their home with an un-renovated interior at an additional 10% discount.
- The UT Grand Prix 2009, a juried t-shirt design competition for cash prizes, is now accepting entries.
EDGE Grads In Action
Groups of graduates from three different cycles of Artist Trust's EDGE Professional Development Program are reuniting to exhibit their work. We're so proud!
- Fourteen EDGE graduates present Beyond EDGE, an exhibit featuring a variety of mediums including oil and acrylic paint, encaustic, metal sculpture, papercraft, resin sculpture, collage, photography, and other mixed media. (Mount Vernon)
- Fifteen graduates of EDGE react to the state of world affairs in Living With Doom: Art From the EDGE, featuring painting, printing, sculpture, art jewelry, and ceramics. (Bremerton)
- Sixteen more EDGE graduates show their work in Off the Edge, at which each artist displays both an artwork and a self-portrait in various mediums. (Bellingham)
Tikka Sears: work created under compulsion
September 3-6, 2008
2006 Grants for Artist Projects and Fellowship recipient Tikka Sears presents the newest multimedia theater piece from her Memory War Theatre Project, which explores war's impact on individual artists throughout history.
Gail Grinnell: Lightly Here
September 5-October 12, 2008
Reception: September 7, 2-4pm
1998 and 2008 Grants for Artist Projects recipient Gail Grinnell presents her work at the Francine Seders Gallery in Seattle. The show includes works on paper created during residencies at Fundacion Valapraiso in Spain and the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ireland, and an installation in the Upstairs Gallery.

Creative Vitality Index
Check out the Creative Vitality Index, an annual assessment of the health of the "creative economy" that measures arts participation and employment. Not surprisingly, Washington rated relatively high compared to the rest of the country; it also experienced a significant increase in arts activities in Eastern and North Central Washington.
