Rosemary Poole-carter Will Read From Her Work At The Seattle Public Library’s Ballard Branch
from:Seattle Public Library - Ballard Branch category:Schools and Libraries posted:October 5th, 2008Rosemary Poole-Carter will read from her novel, “The Women of Magdalene” and present a preview of her play, “The Little Death” from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at The Seattle Public Library, Ballard Branch, 5614 22nd Ave. N.W.
The program is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Free parking is available in the branch garage.
“The Women of Magdalene” is about Robert Mallory, a doctor who served as a field surgeon during the Civil War. He begins working at the Magdalene Ladies’ Lunatic Asylum, where he discovers indifference to and abuse of patients by the other doctors.
“The Little Death” is about Hesper Darnelle, who enters a dangerous liaison with her guardian, Professor Meredith, and then a flirtation with a young man, Alan Corbay. The play will be shown at the Eclectic Theater Company from Oct. 10 to Nov. 1.
Poole-Carter also wrote the books, “What Remains” and “Juliette Ascending” the plays, “Mossy Cape” and “Inconvenient Women.” She lives in Houston.
