Who We Are
Since 1989 GreenStage has produced over half of the plays in Shakespeare’s canon. GreenStage is dedicated to making theater available and accessible to everyone. Each summer our shows reach over 6,000 people with the shared interest of seeing Shakespeare performed outdoors in a straightforward, uncluttered and FREE performance!

The company has also produced other classical plays, brought original scripts to the Seattle Fringe Theater Festival, and in 2001 began a project of producing an American Classic play every winter.

In producing plays, GreenStage’s goal is to focus on story and characters, capturing the life and truth in the plays and sharing it with the audience. As Seattle’s Shakespeare in the Park Company, and Seattle’s longest running Shakespeare company, GreenStage is committed to presenting quality productions of classical theater in a manner that is available to all. In order to reach the largest audience possible, GreenStage’s performances are presented free of charge. The company relies on voluntary donations from contributors and the of generous support of park departments, arts organizations and businesses.

GreenStage's FREE Shakespeare in the Park program consists of two plays by Shakespeare running in repertory in and around Seattle. We bring these shows to major parks in the city of Seattle as well as fairs and parks in surrounding areas.
