In people, fiber implies basic toughness, strength, or fortitude—it is our essential character. Fiber is not simple—it imparts elasticity and flexibility, but also tensile strength, texture and substance. In this invitational show, 18 area artists will create and display contemporary fiber works not previously exhibited in the Valley. Exhibit opening reception, generously sponsored by Kana Winery, is Thurs. July 31 from 5 to 7pm at the Allied Arts Center, 5000 W. Lincoln Ave.

Exhibiting artists include Deborah Ann, Debbie Bone, Ann Bowker, Robin Rankin Coffin, Carol Fletcher, Barbara Green, Allison Haapala, Carmen Petersen, Carol Perry, Carol VonStubbe, Carolyn Schactler, Jeanne Strater, Linda Iasella, Lucy Valderhaug, Nancy Rayner, Sally Fitch, Sylvia Brule, and Wendy Warren.
