Parade starts at 10 am on June 21st

Old Town Days Idol Contest 2008
Welcome to the 2nd annual Old Town Days Idol singing contest. We want to wish all contestants the best of luck in becoming Union Gap’s 2008 Idol. This year the contest will be divided into three age groups: Junior Idol – ages up to 12 years, Teen Idol –13 to 19 and Adult Idol - 20 & Up.

There will be preliminary screenings on June 16th for juniors and Teens. Screenings for Adults will be June 17th and 18th. All will be at 6:00 p.m. in the Activities Building at the Ahtanum Youth Park. There will be a rehearsal with the Master of Ceremonies for all groups Thursday June 19th at 6:00 p.m., followed by a technical rehearsal Saturday morning June 21 at 8:00 a.m.

The first round of competition will be held at Cahalan Park (across from Border Books) in Union Gap. Contestants will be required to sing a 3-4 minute song, either (A Capella), or with a karaoke background track. Judges will then determine (by a point system) if the contestants will advance to the final round on Sunday. Finalists will be announced at the end of Saturday’s Contest.

Winners of the final round will receive a cash prize: Junior $50, Teen $75, Adults $100

A GRAND IDOL will be chosen from those three to receive an additional $150 and a chance to perform at sporting events as the Old Town Days Idol 2008.

Who: The contest is open to all residents of the Greater Yakima Valley.
