Hahn Printing shows environmental leadership with FSC and SFI chain-of-custody certificationscategory:Business and Professional posted:June 19th, 2009
Hahn Printing of Eagle River, Wisconsin has earned
chain-of-custody certifications under Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and
Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) standards. Certifications were issued
after the completion of a rigorous third-party audit of the company’s
facilities, purchasing practices and control systems. FSC and SFI standards
create a proven chain of custody to track wood from certified forests to timber
harvesters, to paper manufacturers, to paper wholesalers, to printers and the
finished product. FSC and SFI are independent, non-profit, non-government
organizations devoted to the responsible management of the world’s forests. “At Hahn Printing we have a strong commitment to the
environment, and so do our customers,” said company president, Jeff Hahn.
“These certifications allow us to support responsible forest management, and
offer our customers the unique assurances that come with FSC or SFI certified
paper. Your purchase of certified paper contributes to conservation and
responsible management of forests. Carrying the FSC or SFI logo on your printed
product tells the world that you support the highest environmentally-responsible
forestry practices.” FSC certification is recognized internationally as the most
rigorous environmental and social standard for responsible forest management.
There are 275 million acres of forests certified by FSC worldwide. Certification
allows Hahn Printing to apply the FSC trademark to projects printed on
FSC-certified paper. Products carrying the FSC label are independently
certified to assure consumers that they come from forests that are managed to
meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future
generations. To learn more about FSC, visit www.fscus.org. With over 152 million acres certified across North America,
the SFI sustainable forestry certification program is one of the largest in the
world, with a standard based on principles and measures to protect water
quality, biodiversity, wildlife habitat, species at risk and forests of
exceptional conservation value. SFI certification and the SFI label on your
printed product provides assurance that the product comes from legal and
sustainable sources. To learn more about SFI, visit www.sfiprogram.org. “Demand for products from well-managed forests is increasing
worldwide and with today’s announcement, Hahn Printing joins a growing number
of companies that are demonstrating their environmental commitment through
certification to the SFI program,” said SFI Inc. president and CEO Kathy
Abusow. “At a time when just 10 percent of the world’s forests are
independently certified, Hahn Printing has taken a leadership role by
supporting global efforts to improve forest practices.” Hahn Printing has been the leading offset and digital
printer in northern Wisconsin for over 21 years, providing high quality design,
