Colorado Women’s & Colorado Men’s Chorales

Jazz it Up!

Featuring Jazz Artist Rajdulari

Jennifer Ferguson, Conductor

Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.

Hitting the notes no one else will hit is the definition of jazz. CWC and CMC can’t wait to hit those notes, lay down some back beats and flaunt their jazz arrangements on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 East Alameda Ave., Denver, CO 80246 . Tickets are $10 - $25 and available by calling 303-388-4962, online at www.AugustanaArts.org or at the door.

Featuring both jazz standards and modern arrangements including “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” Gershwin's “Clap Yo' Hands,”  “Feeling Good” in the style of Ella Fitzgerald, “Mambo Italiano,” “Where is Love?” from Oliver! and the Theme from Spider Man.  CWC and CMC depart from their usual style of singing for a smokin’ concert with solo voices and small groups put together by the men and women of the choirs.

Named by her father, Rajdulari’s name translates as “daughter of a king.” Inspired by the great ladies of song – Ella, Billie, Sarah, Chaka – professional jazz and soul artist, Rajdulari, recorded her first self-produced album, “Honeywine.”  She went on to independently release her second album, “Journey of a Woman.” The long-playing record charted on Billboard’s Top 200 R&B/Hip Hop Albums listing, without any major marketing or radio support. “Journey…..” became the #1 album on R&B outlets in Great Britain and one of the Top 10 cds for that year on the UK album charts.

Now based in Denver, Rajdulari is continuing her journey with music, health, and fashion. She’s currently writing her third album, working on expanding her ‘RajdulariStyle’ brand.

Jennifer Ferguson is the Music Director and Conductor of the Colorado Men’s and Women's Chorales. Ms. Ferguson earned her Bachelor of Music at Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana and her MM in choral conducting from the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music. She is the Executive and Artistic Director of the Mile High Youth Choir.

The Colorado Women's Chorale (CWC) was founded in 2003 to broaden the exposure of quality women’s choral music in Colorado while providing choral opportunities for adult female musicians.  CWC was honored to sing as an invited choir in the concert “With Grace: The Music of Gwyneth Walker” under the direction of acclaimed conductor, Nancy Menk at Alice Tully Hall in New York’s Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in 2014.

The Colorado Men's Chorale made their debut performance with Augustana Arts in May, 2016. CMC looks to create diverse, entertaining music and explore all types of choral genres, as well as focus on outreach in Denver community.

Since 1997, Augustana Arts has been serving the community by presenting the artistry of resident performing groups, internationally renowned touring artists, and accomplished locally-based ensembles of many genres. The resident groups - Stratus Chamber Orchestra, Colorado Women's Chorale, and the Colorado Men’s Chorale - perform at a variety of venues in addition to the majestic Augustana Lutheran Church in Denver.  Augustana Arts serves educational outreach through the City Strings program, an inspired vision to provide youngsters with great need access to high quality, small group music instruction free of cost afterschool at several metro locations.

Augustana Arts concerts and programs are made possible in part by generous support from the citizens of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, Colorado Creative Industries, the Augustana Foundationthe Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, the Denver Foundation, and several other community partners.
