Diabetes - The Basics Class

The diabetes education classes will be offered in a 4-part series. Class 1 is required to be taken before the others in the series. If you have diabetes, these classes will be helpful in teaching you the skills to manage your diabetes - whether you are newly diagnosed, in need of a refresher, have elevated A1c or blood sugar levels, have had a recent change in diabetes treatment, are new to Kaiser Permanente, or if you have not attended diabetes education classes within the past 2 years. It is highly recommended to take the classes in the order listed. The book that is used for the classes is given in class 1.

-Types of diabetes and meaning of A1c
-How to monitor blood glucose and what are target numbers
-Review of common diabetes medications
-Plate method and healthy food choices
-Physical activity recommendations
-Lifestyle change goal setting
