Half Marathon

This half marathon offers all of the winding single track, scenic vistas and about 3000′ of elevation gain, all packed into a challenging 13 miles. There is a fair amount of climb in this race so make sure you have some hill training under your belt.

CUTOFFS (averaging 17:15/mile pace) will be in effect at:

Snyder AS: Hosted by the Ruthenbeck Family (~7.5 miles) – 2h 10m
Summit AS: Hosted by Ascent Runs (~11 miles) – 3h 20m.

With that said, the first 7.5 miles feature the climb up Dead Truck (about 1.5 miles with 750′ feet of gain), the upper Odyssey Loop and North Loop (3ish miles of cruising single track with run-able climb and descent). You will then head down the lower portion of the Odyssey Trail toward the tanks and onward to Snyder aid station.

The South End is where most of the climb is in this race (about 1400′). Here you will find South Climb, aka the False Summit, and The Pacifier. The grade ranges from 10-32%, but there are spots on this part of the course that have significant downhill too. Once you reach the top, you will be greeted by the Summit AS. The last 2.5 miles have a net downhill profile (yes, there is a short, punchy climb in there) and a soft, sandy descent.

Please be prepared to always carry enough water and fuel for yourself. The first aid station is about 7.5 miles out from the start, so plan accordingly. With that said, we require everyone to bring, at minimum, a water bottle that holds at least 20 oz. With varying temperatures in April, we always ensure everyone has what they need on their person.

10K Race

With a challenging profile that features a 900′ climb up Dead Truck and an overall vert of 1600′, this course might be one of the more challenging 10K races in the area, but it is damn beautiful with views of Slide, Job’s, Job’s Sister, and Freel courtesy of the North Loop! This year’s course will also feature the Odyssey Trail, thus putting a little more distance on top. Think of it as a 10k+. Don’t forget the soft descent to the finish when your legs are tired! Please note: there are no aid stations for this distance.

5K Race

The 5K course features over 700′ of elevation. It may sound daunting to those new to trails, but it’s a great introduction to trail races. For seasoned veterans, it’s a great course to open it up and see what you have in the tank for the entire 5K. All 5K runners will pass Dead Truck, turn around at the top, and head back to the finish on a nice, soft, sandy descent. Please note: there are no aid stations for this distance.

For all three races, be sure to spot the iconic dead truck as you work your way up Dead Truck Canyon and take a photo!

Awards

All finishers of all distances will receive a finishers medal! The top male and female finisher in each distance will receive a special award!
