Photographer and former scientist Morris Herstein presents this series featuring an experimental process through the use of generative AI, resulting in this thought-provoking evolution of orchids into abstract forms.

"Orchids are precious and are known as the world’s most exotic flower. These bizarre blossoms have become ubiquitous and addicting. There are more than 30,000 different species and people have been cross-pollinating and cloning them to increase size and make them brighter and better.

I have taken my original orchid photos and processed them using Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool to create a synthetic photo as a supplemental art form that is unique and represents a revolutionary image. I have chosen the Moth Orchid (Phalaenopsis Aphrodite) for the image modifications.

The AI process does not make internal copies of the resulting image. Instead it learns abstract principles which it encodes in mathematical form such as light, color, beauty, shape and style which results in a new art form.
