The work of noted Lowell painter, Tom Gill will be the featured at TreMonte, the popular Lowell restaurant at the corner of Middle and Palmer Streets now through October 31. Known for his landscapes, street scenes and portraiture, Gill presents “Impressions”, a collection of carefully observed oil paintings of the world as he sees it. And since he is a local, residing in Lowell for years, many of those scenes can be easily identified views of the region. “The beauty of Gill’s work is in the composition and distinctive layered brushwork, which appears casual, but shows careful attention to detail” says Mary Hart, who organized the show. “ Tom is a real treasure, and his work graces many local institutions including Enterprise bank and local government offices”.
The work will be on view through the end of October, with an artist reception planned for August 29.
While many may be familiar with his work, the reception which is free and open to all presents a nice opportunity to meet the artist behind the brush. Reception hours are 6 to 8 PM
