Whether it’s comic books or cereal cartons, bus tickets or bricks, favorite recipes or Facebook likes, human beings collect a remarkable range of objects and experiences.
Named for the long-dead but much-mourned candy counter at Woolworths, and inspired by 21 Collections at the Los Angeles Public Library, Pic ‘n’ Mix, brings together collections amassed by members of the Cypress College community. Beyond any monetary value they may represent, these collections are valuable for the stories they tell.
Along with the interviews that narrate them, the collections gathered here tell tales of distant places and intimate dreams, passionate loyalties and political lies, and sometimes of great sweetness.
At a time when we cannot meet in person, Pic ‘n’ Mix invites you to unwrap its ‘candies,’ savor new knowledge of old friends, and make new connections.
The collection of collections, which is curated by Janet Owen Driggs, will grow through the semester.
CCAG would like to thank everyone who has generously shared their collection for Pic ‘n’ Mix.
