This Spring, Ronald Feldman Gallery is thrilled to share a selection of prints by Roy Lichtenstein ranging in date from 1968 to 1997. The showing features several large prints from the Interiors series, which were inspired by tiny advertisements from the Yellow Pages of telephone directories but enlarged nearly to life-size. Also included are prints from the Reflections series, the Landscape series, the Composition series, and Still Lifes.
Print-making was an important part of Lichtenstein’s oeuvre, and his graphic work, in which he experimented with complex and subtle processes, often preceded rather than followed paintings of similar subjects. As an overview of many of his themed motifs, the hanging illustrates Lichtenstein’s variations of form and composition, suffused with wit and gentle irony, and rendered in his characteristic Ben-Day dots, geometric shapes, and diagonal lines.
