Celebrated Louisiana author, journalist, and filmmaker Jason Berry will visit UL Lafayette's College of Liberal Arts for a special screening and discussion of his film City of a Million Dreams on Thursday, September 29th.
Already hailed as a classic, Berry's film explores the history and culture of New Orleans through the lens of the jazz funeral and in that sense serves as a cinematic complement to his 2018 book, City of a Million Dreams: A History of New Orleans at Year 300.
The film will be screened at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, in Room 147 at UL's Griffin Hall, 141 Rex Street.
For more information, contact the UL College of Liberal Arts.
“Tragedy and comedy, life and death: these are the poles between which the events and people in this film move, with the good and the bad often inseparable. For anyone who loves the place, this film will enhance your understanding. For anyone curious about New Orleans, it’s a fantastic place to start.”
