A living legend in the flamenco world, Sara Baras has spent the past 30 years building an internationally lauded career as a dancer, director, and choreographer. Winner of the 2020 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance—as well as a slew of Spain’s highest dance honors—Baras infuses classic forms (most famously the farruca) with a powerfully modern sensibility.

Returning to City Center for the first time since her acclaimed evening-length work Sombras in 2019, Baras crafts a love letter to flamenco’s origins with Alma.
