Celebrate our nation’s independence with old fashioned family fun! Visit Historic Richmond Town over Independence Day Weekend for three days of special programming and events. Meet costumed interpreters and living historians portraying soldiers, tradespeople, and founding fathers.  Sign your name to a copy of the Declaration of Independence. Enjoy demonstrations of 19th century fireworks, a balloon launch,  and Revolutionary era muskets.

New York City’s living history village is the perfect backdrop for an educational and inspirational observation of American Independence.

Special Features Each Day:

Meet living historians depicting John Adams and Thomas Jefferson

Activities:

- Make your own flags and Victorian paper pinwheels and marching in the Pinwheel Parade.
- Visit with Artisans of the Historic Trades and learn about the creation of household necessities using period tools.
- Meet historical notables, such as George and Martha Washington, John Adams, and Betsy Ross, in-person!
- Sign an oversized Declaration of Independence with a quill and ink.
- Participate in a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence.
- Churn ice cream the old-fashioned way.
- The Science Behind Fireworks, a demonstration by The Unexcelled Firework Company (1888-1944).
