Independence Fireworks

Enjoy an evening of family fun and fireworks along with patriotic music to celebrate our nation's founding.

Fireworks & Live Music:

Relax and enjoy a patriotic evening that includes dazzling fireworks and musical performances.

Fireworks over the Potomac will be from 9:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.

General Washington will be in the Historic Area from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Washingtons' Tomb:

6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Walk down to visit the Washingtons' Tomb for a special wreath-laying; this event is one of the few times this area is open in the evening.

The Fifes & Drums of Yorktown:

6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.

Revel in the sounds of the 18th century and the music of Washington’s troops on the Bowling Green with performances by the talented Fifes & Drums of Yorktown.

National Concert Band:

7:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. to 9:10 p.m.

Listen to a concert by the National Concert Band on the South Lawn.

Ice Cream-Making Demonstrations:

6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Watch Mount Vernon's staff perform 18th-century ice cream-making demonstrations on the Bowling Green.

Blacksmith Shop:

6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Visit the Blacksmith shop in the Historic Area.


6:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.

Enjoy concessions from the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant. Concessions will be available for purchase on the East Lawn.

Outside food is not permitted on the estate.

Museum Exhibits:

6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

View our museum exhibits inside the Education Center and step into the shoes of the first president in the Be Washington™ Interactive Theater.

The Shops at Mount Vernon:

6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Shop at our gift shop until 8:30 p.m.
