Take a trip back in time and be immersed in the joy and heartwarming creativity of Shari Lewis and her most beloved creation, partner, and puppet, Lamb Chop. Lewis, whose father was also an entertainer and her biggest champion, grew up in a Jewish family in the Bronx. Rising from her early experiences with children’s variety shows in the ‘50s, she soon debuted her iconic partner Lamb Chop on Captain Kangaroo. Shari Lewis went on to win 13 Emmys and a Peabody Award and authored more than 60 children’s books during her impressive career. Using archival footage, TV clips, and insightful interviews, director Lisa D’Apolito delivers a beautiful and heartwarming tribute to one of America’s most versatile and beloved entertainers of a generation.

4:00 p.m: Martha Lieberman: A Stolen Life at The Oaks Theater
Upper-class widow Martha Lieberman stubbornly refused to leave her beloved homeland, choosing to remain in war-torn Berlin. Despite her Jewish heritage, her reputation and that of her departed husband, famous painter Max Liebermann, had managed to keep her safe from the Nazis until early 1943. Faced with imminent deportation to a concentration camp, she is encouraged to sell some of her husband’s valuable paintings and use the funds to make her escape. Martha Lieberman: A Stolen Life, is the true story of this distinguished 85-year-old woman and the impossible choices she is forced to make. (Adult Content: violence, death by suicide)
