Literacy Volunteers of Central CT Volunteer/Tutor Training

Tuesday, Jun 22, 2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Literacy Volunteers of Central Ct will be holding a volunteer training using Zoom on the following two dates: June 15th and 22nd from 6-8pm. Both sessions must be attended in order to complete the training. Once the training is finished, LVCC staff will guide and support you as you reach out to help another adult improve their English language skills, based on a goal(s) they have set for themselves.

There are many adult learners in our service area eager to work with a tutor in order to reach their literacy related goals. Many of our learners need to improve their English relative to work skills and attaining employment. Others need to improve their English in order to assist and support their children in school. Some have health related reasons, or are looking to attend higher education or a training program. The need is great, and despite the challenges of the pandemic, our tutors are finding creative ways to connect with their students. We are also slowing returning to meeting in person, as more libraries offer extended time and space to meet for classes.

Giving a hand to another family is a great way to help our communities, and to personally affect another person’s life….as well as your own. It feels good to give back! Please consider becoming a Literacy Volunteer and making a difference in someone’s life!
