The Town of Tyngsborough has a rich history of celebrating Memorial Day. The citizens of the community have always taken pride in our events and we traditionally enjoy extraordinary turn out for the Memorial Day events.
Despite challenges beyond our control over the last four years, the Town has continued the tradition of saluting our fallen. This is done the morning of Memorial Day by visiting each of the 5 main cemeteries in Town as well as placing a wreath at the Memorials in the center of Town. In years past, we have ended the program with a parade ending at the American Legion with a community celebration. This of course has been on hold as the American Legion works hard to rebuild after suffering a devastating fire. We are excited for them to reopen this summer and incorporating the parade and community celebration back into the program next year.
The program will start at the Town Center Veteran's Memorial and a motorcade will depart from the Old Town hall visiting all of the Town's cemeteries to salute the fallen. This is a very solemn and moving tradition. All are welcome to take part in the motorcade. Carpooling is encouraged and parking is available next to the Old Town Hall and at the Meeting House parking lot.
Residents interested in participating are encouraged to meet on the Town Common for 8:30 AM.
