Each Monday night the Playwright’s Lab at Hollins and Mill Mountain Theatre present a talk by a prominent working professional theatre artist. Again this year, due to ongoing pandemic restrictions, the Monday Night Guest Speaker Series will be presented live via Zoom.
July 26: Dominic Taylor
Dominic Taylor – playwright, director, educator
Taylor is a full professor at UCLA, School of Theatre, Film, and Television and core teaching faculty with The Playwright’s Lab at Hollins. His written work includes Wedding Dance, Personal History, Hype Hero, and I Wish You Love. His directing projects have been as varied as the opera Fresh Faust at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston; The Negroes Burial Ground at The Kitchen in New York City; and Ride the Rhythm in the Hip-Hop Theatre Festival in Washington, D.C. Taylor received his bachelor’s and Master of Fine Arts degrees from Brown University. He is a member of Stage Directors and Choreographers, a board member of the Givens Foundation for African American Literature, and an associate artistic director of America-in-Play. Taylor will also be a guest respondent for the 2021 Hollins Playwright’s Festival of New Works.
