Motor City Academy Brass Band (MCABB), under the direction of Bona Opatich, is also competing in the NABBA Championships, and will join MCBB on April 2nd in Southgate for this preview concert.

MCBB and MCABB are excited to present this concert in the Downriver community. For many years, MCBB has enjoyed a large, enthusiastic audience from Downriver at our annual subscription concert series, held in Dearborn at the Ford Performing Arts Center. A third of our musicians live in Downriver cities and townships, and five are current or former music educators in Downriver schools.

Please join us on Tuesday, April 2nd @ 7:30 pm at Southgate Anderson High School. Invite your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. This concert is a great opportunity to introduce new audience members to MCBB and MCABB.

The North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) is an organization dedicated to the promotion and development of the British-style brass band movement in North America. NABBA has become a force in brass banding across North America and hosts the annual Championship competition. MCBB, established in 1996, was the first competitive British-style brass band in Michigan. Today, there are nine in Michigan and hundreds nationwide.

Forty brass bands will compete in the 2024 NABBA Championships. Each partcipating band performs one Required test piece and one Choice piece. MCBB and MCABB will play both of their required and choice pieces during the preview concert. We look forward to seeing you April 2nd at Southgate Anderson High School.
