Music on the Move: Annie Savage

Wednesday, Aug 24, 2022 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm

Music on the Move began as a Truckload of Soul in 2020, when musician Kevin Burt approached Summer of the Arts about bringing live music to neighborhoods in the midst of a pandemic. In the back of a pickup truck, he played his guitar for some much-needed sound! The idea went over so well that we decided to bring back the concept in 2021 as Music on the Move.

In 2022, we are partnering with Iowa City’s Parks and Recreation Department to bring even more music to the neighborhoods: instead of twice per month, we will be out and about every week during June, July, and August with the Rec & Roll program!

Annie Savage, hailed recently as “firecracker educator and entertainer” is an international string clinician and performer of American Roots music. A prize-winning contest fiddler from the age of 8, Annie has performed with artists from Aretha Franklin to Ricky Skaggs. She founded the local band The Awful Purdies and cut her teeth with The Mayflies before moving the Colorado’s Front Range and taking the roots music world by storm. Her current band, The Savage Hearts, performs fiery stage shows and teaches her method for group improvisation at schools, conferences and festivals.
