On Thursday, Oct. 16, the festival will move to the Manheim Community Farm Show grounds on Adele Ave. in Manheim for a Community Marimba Celebration! From 6:00pm to 8:00pm, the grounds will come alive with marimba music, hands on activities, and tasty treats. The Manheim Central Marching Band percussion section will host a ‘percussion circus’ where anyone can come and try out the various instruments in the percussion family. Children can make their own egg shaker maracas while various marimba artists will provide engaging discussions and performances. Vintage phonographs will be on display by enthusiasts and a variety of non-profits will also have displays and activities. Food is available for purchase from Rad-ish and the Manheim FFA will have their own home-grown popcorn for sale. Horst Arts will have marimba themed hand-crafted items for sale. All other activities are free of charge. Stephanie Smith, co-director of the festival, director of the Lancaster Marimba Ensemble and Assistant Director of the Manheim Central Marching Band is particularly excited for the Community Marimba Celebration. She says, “Manheim is such a terrific area for celebrating community, and we’re thrilled to offer an interactive and fun evening for the community and families to enjoy.”
