Working from direct observation, found images and drawings we will create a space with objects that can accommodate room for your imagination and narratives. We will take a process driven approach to painting and will learn to accept shifts and changes while searching for form,  volume and internal architecture of the picture plane. This class introduces several approaches to help students deepen their practice in observational and composite still life painting. Brief slideshow lectures and feedback sessions in each class will provide students with a critical and foundational knowledge for assessing their own work.

Some basic familiarity with drawing will be helpful.
