Jackie Robinson-baseball star played an important role in integrating professional sports. This production celebrates his achievements, highlighting some of the best moments of his career and explaining his role in ending segregation.  Young audiences join Jackie as he learns valuable lessons from his mother, then cheer him on as he scores his first home run as a professional baseball player. Volunteers even join Jackie onstage to help him overcome bullying without fighting back.

This play shows the events that shaped Jackie Robinson’s character, his struggle to gain acceptance, and the tremendous obstacles he overcame on his way to changing the face of our nation.

We are confident this performance will help students understand why it is important to stand up for what is right without using violence .“Our shows have lots of interaction and bring big moments to life,” says Schmidt. “When you see Jackie Robinson scoring his first home run right in front of you, even when he is being treated so unfairly, it’s hard not to be inspired. We hope the play will encourage audiences to find good role models and use good leadership skills.
