On April 14, 1865 John Wilkes Booth assassinated Abraham Lincoln at Ford’s Theater in Washington, DC forever altering the course of American History. What is less readily known is that Booth was the mastermind of a larger conspiracy meant to cripple the Federal Government, of which the death of Lincoln was only a part. That evening Booth and his fellow co-conspirators would participate in the largest terrorist plot against the United States, one that came dangerously close to succeeding. Join us as History teacher Michael Yannone tells the story of the Lincoln Conspiracy and how dangerously close Booth came to destroying the Federal
Government.

A lifelong Bergen County resident, Michael graduated Paramus High School and then attended
Fordham University where he majored in both History and Art History. From Fordham, he
earned his Masters degree in Education at the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, Michael is
now in his 27th year teaching American History at Ridgewood High School. He is also a resident
of Ridgewood, and a trustee of the Ridgewood Historical Society.
