The Lanier Library Mystery Festival

Saturday, Oct 20, 2018 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Cocktails and Clues

The evening begins with a talk by Wofford College History Department Chair Tracy Revels. Sound dry? Uh-uh. Dr. Revels is a Sherlock Homes scholar and the topic of the evening’s program is “Historical Mysteries and Scandals” where she promises to spill the beans on “all the fun, naughty stories you don’t get to hear in [my] regular classes.” You won’t want to miss it. Read more about her passion for Sherlock Holmes in this Lanier Library interview with Dr. Revels.

Pam Herres, our Queen of Hospitality, is refining her menu and we can hardly wait for the promised new dessert and other surprises…think Bloody Marys with all the fixin’s as this year’s signature cocktail.

The Clues committee led by Sandra McCall has also come up with some new twists to make the popular scavenger hunt for clues in the stacks even more thrilling: a custom murder mystery written exclusively for Lanier Library by local mystery author Mark Schweizer! Teams this year will have to actually solve the murder based on Mark’s clues to the culprit (and the suspects are all locals). And once again there will be prizes for the cleverest and fastest team.

Tickets are $35 per person and include cocktails, wine, food and fun. Reservations may be made by calling 828-859-9535 or stopping by the Circulation desk at the library. We accept checks and credit cards and ask this year that all payments be made in advance of the evening. Reservations are limited to 50 and last year’s event was a sell-out, so add this to your calendar now and purchase your tickets Soon.
