Join Conserving Carolina Speaker Series at Walnut Creek Preserve on Saturday, September 22nd when Naturalist and Environmental Science Educator, Steve O’Neil presents, “Turtle Tracks and Snake Tracks,” at the Anne Elizabeth Suratt Nature Center at Walnut Creek Preserve at 10:30 a.m.
Over the last decade, Steve has conducted several reptile conservation, ecology, and environmental education research projects studying the Eastern Box Turtle, Black Rat Snake, and Timber Rattlesnake. Steve will be presenting a detailed program on his findings on the movements, habitat selection, and life history of these amazing yet very misunderstood creatures.
Steve will be bringing living examples of the animals he has followed, as well as examples of the equipment he uses to follow them in their natural habitats.
After the presentation, join us for a walk outside for a “snake/turtle hunt”! Steve will demonstrate how the radio telemetry tracking equipment and other data collection devices work.
