Carlester Smith: Caring for the Streets of Annapolis

AmericanTowns Hero

Although I've never met Carlester I pass him almost everyday on may way to work. Rain or shine he walks the streets of Annapolis picking up trash along the side of the road. Whenever I'm feeling rushed and down about what the upcoming day's events will bring I pass him and I'm immediately inspired by his purpose full actions to complete his thankless task. One day I asked a coworker, who also lives in Annapolis, about him and too explained how he always sees Carlester out walking the streets picking up trash. We then found article about him (http://www.hometownannapolis.com/news/TOP/2010/05/06-50/Eric-Hartley-Picturing-an-Annapolis-icon-in-a-new-light.html) and were even that much more inspired, and apparently so are many others; as rumors have been posted online about how someone should build a statue of him. He may not be raising money to cure cancer or anything like that, but he has unknowingly given many people of Annapolis the inspiration...if not to be a better person, than at the very least not litter. Please leave my name out of any article that may result from this. Thank you)
