Daria Miller Recycles for Conservation

This week's hero is a conservation champion! Daria Miller was honored with an award and a $500 cash prize in the Cox Cares Conservation Champions program. Her act of recycling bottles and cans started as a class project to raise money for a school trip, but once she got started there was no going back. Daria has been actively working to recycle bottles and cans for more than two years. She started the effort to raise money for an 8th grade field trip to Washington, DC and kept going when she realized every can and bottle she didn't collect would end up in a landfill. To date she has recycled more than 75,000 items and she continues to inspire others to do the same. She's doing even more to help the environment by taking her prize money and donating it to The Ocean Institute. Way to go, Daria!
