Keren Taylor is a songwriter, vocalist, poet, visual artist and the founder of WriteGirl.org - a non-profit organization that encourages young women to become writers through mentorship with professional writers. Keren started the organization in Los Angeles about 10 years ago to help at-risk teenage girls increase their self esteem and confidence and give them a valuable skill they can use to help fuel their future careers. WriteGirl.org was honored in 2010 by the governor of California as the non-profit organization of the year for their work connecting at-risk teenage girls with female professionals. As Executive Director of WriteGirl.org, Keren's job, among many is to help find female volunteers who want to participate in the program. She is also involved in fund raising as well as daily operations. At present there are approximately 150 volunteers mentoring about 300 teens. If you would like to donate or learn more, visit WriteGirl.org. Even if you're not in the area they serve, it's a good model for any region that wants to help the next generation achieve their dreams.
