Shauna Shelley: Shares Stories and Art for a Cure

All Hero Nominee

Shauna Shelley shares the stories of three women in her life and their experiences with breast cancer on her website, theblushproject as a reminder to all women to get regular mammograms and screenings. Shauna also sells her artwork to help raise money for breast cancer research. When someone from the Susan G. Komen Foundation saw theblushproject a happy alliance was formed. Shauna’s artwork was a featured item at the Pink Tie Ball, where all of her original pieces were sold, raising money for the charity. The paintings are designed to convey different emotions experienced by the cancer patient. “Each piece will tell a story, define an emotion, or explain a consequence or effect of the disease on a woman and her family.” The colors each bear meaning as well. You can view her gallery of paintings and order a print for yourself or a friend. As Shauna says: "Every charitable dollar, every volunteer effort, every prayer for a cure matters!"
