The ladies behind the Mission Beach Women's Club (MBWC) are congratulating each other and thanking the community for coming out to make their fundraiser a success.
It must have been the worthy cause (and the great silent auction items) that helped propel the contributions beyond $27,000 and all the monies went to the firefighters at Pacific Beach Fire Station 21.
The firefighters were delighted with the generosity of the community and will use the money to upgrade some of the necessities and niceties at the station. Little things like exercise equipment and big things like mattresses make a real difference in the lives of the firefighters who frequently work around the clock keeping the community safe.
So the heroes at Fire Station 21 are thanking the heroes at the Mission Beach Women's Club, an organization that prides itself on its ability to rally the community to give.
"Established in 1926, the MBWC is the oldest philanthropic social organization in Mission Beach. The club 'gives away anywhere from $30,000 to $50,000 every year to different charitable organizations in the community.'"
