The Paderewski Festival seeks to cultivate the musical life and creativity of Ignacy Jan Paderewski, who enriched the lives of millions around the world through his performances, including four in Raleigh. The Festival further seeks to honor his efforts in returning Poland to sovereign political status.

3PM: Piano Concert - Mateusz Dubiel

Mateusz Dubiel was born in Bielsko-Bia?a in southern Poland in 2004 and, thus, is this year’s youngest performer in the Paderewski Piano Festival of Raleigh. He graduated from the Stanis?aw Moniuszko Music School in Bielsko-Bia?a, having studied with Anna Skarbowska. For a number of years he has also studied at the Academy of Music in Kraków with Miros?aw Herbowski. He has been a winner in competitions both in nationwide venues in Poland, such as the Fryderyk Chopin General Competition in Warsaw (2022), and in international venues, such as Second Place in the Third International Piano Competition “Jeune Chopin” in Lugano, Switzerland sponsored by Martha Argerich (2023). He won First Place and four specialty prizes in the 27th International Fryderyk Chopin Competition for Children and Youths in Szarfarnia (Poland). In 2021 he placed sixth in the 12th “Arthur Rubinstein” International Competition for Young Pianists in Bydgoszcz and garnered First Place in the 6th International Chopin Carpathian Foothills Competition in 2022.

3PM: Piano Concert - Angie Zhang

American concert pianist, fortepianist, and harpsichordist Angie Zhang is recognized as a prolific tour de force in today’s historical and modern piano worlds. Straddling both realms as a rising authoritative figure, she has performed internationally since she was accepted into Juilliard at age 10 as a sought-after soloist, chamber musician, and educator. Her unique voice on and off stage has illuminated the art form in novel ways for both
musicians and audiences. Armed with a shield of refinement and authenticity, her consummate musicianship as one of her generation’s most versatile artists remains timeless.

Zhang has graced some of the world’s most important stages and made debuts with more than 25 orchestras. A laureate of the Chopin International Piano Competition on Period Instruments and the Honens International Piano Competition, she has delivered insightful, fresh, and genuine interpretations on a wide range of keyboard instruments at major festivals and organizations in North America, Central America, and Europe, including La Jolla Music Society, Music@Menlo, Bravo! Vail, Piano Academy Eppan, Teatro Nacional of the Dominican Republic, Kennedy Center, and Lincoln Center.

3pm: Piano Concert - Mateusz Krzy?owski

Mateusz Krzy?owski was the first Polish artist to win First Prize at the I. J. Paderewski International Piano Competition that takes place in Bydgoszcz. He was also a winner of the Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart best performance award of a piano concerto, among other prizes in the form of recitals and concerts with orchestras in the most prestigious halls in the world.

His musical education began in his hometown in Silesia, Tychy, in the Felix Rybicki Music School in the class of Bo?ena Furma?ska. He continued his education in the Karol Szymanowski School in Katowice with Lubow Nawrocka and Sebastian Nawrocki. He is currently a student of Joanna ?awrynowicz-Just in the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.

3pm: Piano Concert - Martin Garcia Garcia

Martin Garcia Garcia (born in Gijón, 1996) is considered, at age 26, one of those pianists of greatest international note. In 2023, he has performed more than 80 concerts worldwide (America, Asia, and Europe). This year marked his debut in Korea, Mexico, and Brazil. He has also visited Japan, the United States, Canada, Poland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Lithuania, and Luxembourg to give remarkable recitals and perform alongside prestigious orchestras such as the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Hamburg Symphoniker, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, and the Brasilia Orchestra. Notably, the Spanish artist also gave over 70 performances across America, Asia, and Europe in 2022, achieving significant milestones with a debut at Carnegie Hall in New York and a successful tour in Japan with 25,000 in attendance at 14 performances. He performed in Suntory Hall in Tokyo and the National Auditorium of Music in Madrid. He also released his first album “Chopin and His Master” in 2022 a production by the artist himself, recorded in the Fazioli piano factory hall in Sacile, Italy. The album includes works by Bach, Chopin, Liszt, and Scriabin, reflecting the repertoire developed during the 2021-2022 season. This album is available on digital platforms and physically in Japan (Nippon Arts).
