Celebrating 18 years, Fidelity Investments The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival is a jewel of the Texas fine arts tour and ranked among the top arts festivals in the country! Set along the scenic banks of The Woodlands Waterway and in Town Green Park, festival guests have the unique opportunity to enjoy a vibrant outdoor art gallery with music, food and kid's activities while shopping for art created by fine artists from around the world and nation! Selected artists display unique original artwork ranging across a variety of mediums at the festival. Voted as the best event in The Woodlands, the arts festival is a long-standing springtime tradition for families and locals.

Featured Artist & Best of Show Winners

Each year on opening day of the festival, a team of judges representing The Woodlands Arts Council review art from all participating artists to select a Featured Artist and Best of Show Winners. The judges are local gallery owners, art teachers, artists and business professionals. Artists are scored on artistic merit and on booth presentation. Prize winners are jury-exempt for two years, receive booth awards, and other benefits.

Featured Artist

Cathra-Anne Barker is a self-taught potter with 50 years of experience.

Initially a painter and a drawer, she was not satisfied with the flatness. Eventually she threw her first pot and the wheel just kept on turning.

Her work is practical and personal. There is no production work and she does everything from building kilns to mixing glazes. She is inspired by plants (the major miracle of earth), travel, hunks of fabric, song, and on and on. In the winter she forgets that something is coming and every spring a pattern emerges that surprises her.

When she is in her studio, especially when glazing, she often wonders who she is making that piece for and loves that she gets to find out.

Cathra-Anne has a great affection for the people who want to live with her pots and she hopes that when they see them they feel that along with a smile.

She and her former apprentice, now Husband, Richard Meyer share a studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
