2022 Fourth of July Celebration at Mohonk Mountain House

Featuring live evening concerts and performances throughout the summer. The Boat Dock is visible from our rustic summerhouses surrounding the lake, Lake Shore Road, our grand porches overlooking Lake Mohonk from the Parlor or Lake Lounge, as well as most guest rooms with lake side balconies. Guests will also be able to hear the music while strolling through the Show Gardens and from guest rooms with garden side balconies.

FRIDAY, JULY 1, 2022

Tomahawk Throwing
3:30pm

Join us for some outdoor summer fun! This will be a hands on lesson teaching you the basics of tomahawk throwing.

Limit 30. Sign up required-no earlier than 24 hours in advance. Please call 845-256-2186 to sign up. No late admittance. Ages 13 and up. Closed-toe shoes and masks required.

Folk Tunes, Fiddle Songs & Fancy Footwork
8:30pm

John Kirk and Trish Miller are dance callers and musicians from Saratoga Springs, NY. With the use of fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and banjo, they will present an array of funny songs, sing alongs, folk ballads from the Catskills, sentimental favorites and some singer-songwriter gems.

Evening Campfire
9pm – 10pm

Join Wild Bill and the Buffalo Boys for an evening of family fun and songs by the campfire with roasting a delicious marshmallow treat!

Choose your adventure and explore the trails. Children always have a choice of getting crafty if hiking or scrambling if not for them. The fun doesn’t stop there, call for further activities offered in this session. Ages 5-12, drop off program.

Family Archery

Join us for to learn the basics of Archery with our skilled staff.

Guided rock scramble through the labyrinth ending at Sky Top Tower.  2 miles. Proper footwear required. Ages 7 and up.

Lara Hope & the Ark-Tones

Lara Hope and the Ark-Tones are the Northeast’s premier Roots Rock n’ Roll & Rockabilly Twang outfit! They have been hitting the road hard since 2012, spreading their ‘pan-americana’ sound wherever they go. Enjoy the many areas of early rock and roots music as the Ark-Tones leap on their creative launchpad.

Mario the Magician
8:30pm

Mario’s live performance is uplifting, inventive, highly interactive, and ridiculously funny. Part retro, part rock and roll, Mario is an artist and inventor who creates his own props and never sacrifices the old-school slapstick vibe that families love! Mario has appeared on Sesame Street, at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the World Maker Faire New York, the American Museum of Natural History, and FAO Schwarz, among many other wonderful locations.

Cornhole Challenge

Warm up your arm and get ready to play our corn hole challenge.  Up to 4 people per team.

Trumpet Across the Lake
12pm

From 1902 until the mid-1950s, bugle calls were performed daily throughout the summer to announce meals and entertainments. We are pleased to recreate this tradition on the Fourth of July with trumpeter Aaron Flagg. Best enjoyed from the East side of the House facing Lake Mohonk.

Parade Formation Location
2pm

If you want to march in the parade, please join us as we form the parade order. Come dressed up in costume or your favorite red, white, and blue attire! We step off promptly at 2:15 p.m.

Fourth of July Parade
2:15pm

Gather around the Putting Green to watch our annual Fourth of July Parade! Clap your hands to the sweet sounds of “The Hudson Seven” Riverboat Marching Band as you cheer for our parade line, including employees in costume, participants decked out in red, white, and blue, and the Mohonk Fire Truck! If you want to march in the parade, please join us as we form the parade order just outside Valet at 2pm. We step off promptly at 2:15pm.

Fourth of July Carnival
2:30pm – 4pm

Directly following the Parade, follow our Riverboat Marching Band and head down to the Barn Museum for more fun!  Vendors including ImmuneSchein Elixirs, Tuthilltown Spirits, & Whitecliff Vineyards will offer tastings and products alongside cotton candy, popcorn, and bounce castle for children to enjoy.

4th of July Water Show
4:30pm

Join us for this annual Mohonk tradition of family friendly water competitions such as porch diving and log rolling!

Ages 7 and up can participate in their age category with parental permission. Registration is required to participate in the Water Show. Parents must sign up their children between 9:30am – 3:30pm at the Information Summerhouse located across from the Boat Dock. Guests will receive a wristband after they have registered which must be worn to participate.

Boat Dock Concert: “The Hudson Seven” Riverboat Band
7:30pm – 8:45pm

Take in the beauty of Lake Mohonk and begin the evening festivities with the Riverboat Band, a Hudson Valley based group directed by saxophonist Jason Clinton. Their acoustic and brass melodies will be an incredible kick-off to the Illumination Ceremony.

Illumination of the Mountain Ceremony
9:15pm

As dusk settles, a peaceful reflection of brilliant color glows from rocky ledges to cliff-bound lake. A live musical performance paired with a spectacular fireworks display by Legion Fireworks, this is a unique way to celebrate July 4th. Readings by Tom Smiley and Eric Gullickson.

Square Dance with Eric Hollman Band
9:45pm – 11pm

Join us after the show for a great night of traditional and family-friendly American contra, square and circle dances to a live fiddle band! No experience necessary—fun for all ages!
