In Germany, Christmas wares and gifts are sold in the festival-style setting of Christkindlmarkt.

The Ferdinand Christkindlmarkt, held the third full weekend in November annually, features over 200 lavishly decorated booths spilling over with quality hand-created items, antiques, art, Christmas wares, delicious regional food and wine, live entertainment, a free concert, free tours and so much more.

Schedule of Events:

November 17, 2023:

6:30 - 7:00 pm: Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony with Christkind Angel Appearance; Enjoy local dining afterwards!

Herald in the Markt! The Christkind Angel appears from the doors of the crypt on the west hillside of Monastery Immaculate Conception during the 6:30 p.m. EST performance enhanced by trumpeters and tradition! This outdoor, candlelit opening ceremony is free and open to those who wish to experience an Olde World Christmas event!

Trumpeters herald in the markt, Christkindl appearance, Monastery Bell Choir, Children’s Candlelight Parade, etc., to be followed by the Sisters of St. Benedict Bake Sale & the Eve Dinner.

Showcased in the Forest Park High School Auditorium

A cuckoo clock comes to life Saturday and Sunday at 11, 12, and 1:00 EST at the Forest Park High School Auditorium!

Since 1952, the Melchior Marionettes have been performing throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia. Join 3rd generation of The Melchior Marionettes, Heidi, as she shares her beautifully hand-crafted marionettes once again here at the 2022 Ferdinand Christkindlmarkt. She is excited to mark the 13th year of entertaining visitors and enjoys being a part of this annual tradition.

Free Concert: Evansville Philharmonic Ensemble "Sounds of the Season" Concert

Saturday, November 18, 2023: 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Talented members of the Evansville Philharmonic will be performing beautiful, seasonal selections and traditional Christmas carols on Saturday from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. EST in beautiful Monastery Immaculate Conception. As there is no admission to either concert, a freewill offering is encouraged.
