Lake Placid, Florida and the surrounding Sebring area are rich with natural beauty, excellent growing conditions, and talented people. While caladiums are the heart of our popular Caladium Festival, the event also highlights our creative community as well as our local heritage and culture. We’re excited to celebrate our annual festival with you in 2023, so please make plans to attend!

Bus Tours

Take a bus tour around Lake Placid to see beautiful plantings, the caladium fields and meet the growers that you will see at the festival. Advanced registration is preferred and you may register online. Tours are approximately one hour and leave from the Lake Placid Woman’s Club (10 North Main Avenue). They are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so reserve your spot early. Handicapped accessible buses are available.

Sugar Express Train

For the first time in its history, the Caladium Festival will feature steam-powered passenger train rides operating hour-long trips out of Lake Placid on July. Known as the “Caladium Capital of the World,” Lake Placid celebrates the colorful blooming flower and agricultural heritage of Highlands County and routinely welcomes 20,000 visitors a year.

Trains will depart Lake Placid on Friday and Saturday at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 2:00 PM each day. Tickets are $25.00

Little Miss Caladium Pageant

Join us for the pop-up Little Miss Caladium Pageant.

The pageant will be held on Friday, July 28th at 3pm at the Stuart Park Pavilion.
