Meet the Award Creators:

Rock and a Soft Place studios is the base of operations for stone sculptor Bob Madden and fiber artist/metal sculptor Karen Madden. Karen and Bob formed Rock and A Soft Place (RASP) in 2007 as their individual artistic identities began to overlap in the minds of their clients. Karen’s early career work in Fiber art provided the “Soft place” to pair with Bob’s “Rock”. Since first creating RASP studios, Karen’s artwork has grown to include metal works and sculptures (a fact yet to be embodied in the studio name).

The Maddens have lived in Poughquag NY since 1983 working in separate but adjoining dedicated studios with a common interior door through which many collaborative ideas and projects have passed. Both artists are represented in public and private collections throughout the US, Europe, and South America.

Meet Our Special Guest MC:

(Grace) Angela Henry

After careers in education, empowerment in the developing world, and an executive search and
consulting for the nonprofit sector, Angela added a career in voice acting. Her voice can be heard on audio tours (including Historic Huguenot Street) and on audiobooks for authors such as Condoleezza Rice and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley. Angela narrated films for the FDR National Historic Site, voiced Toni Morrison in the award-winning “Shokran, Toni,” and narrates “A Sculpted Life”, which will air on PBS this year. She portrays Sojourner Truth in multiple venues, and is a popular MC for nonprofit galas. Angela has degrees from Tufts University and Harvard University.
