The 37th annual Scarecrow Weekend, presented by AAA, will be held October 7th-9th in downtown St. Charles, Illinois.

85+ handmade scarecrows will be showcased around town for visitors to view and vote on their favorites. There will be a Family Zone with live entertainment and many family activities as well as an Activity Zone with festive photo ops, Scarecrow in a Box, Touch-A-Truck, and a professional pumpkin carver.

?While visiting, make sure to treat yourself to many sales, specials, and events throughout town including the Autumn on the Fox Craft Show in Pottawatomie Park.

Scarecrow Weekend Activities:

This is the perfect opportunity for families to celebrate the fall season with all the live entertainment, activities and of course, handmade scarecrows that the weekend has to offer.

Scarecrow Contest?

The Scarecrow Contest, presented by St. Charles Bank & Trust Company, is taking place during Scarecrow Weekend October 7th - 9th throughout downtown St Charles. Look at all of the unique handcrafted scarecrows on display throughout the weekend. Visitors can vote on their favorite scarecrows starting Friday afternoon and voting closes on Sunday at 5 p.m. Vote for only one entry in each category using the number displayed at the Scarecrow. One voting ballot per person.

The four scarecrow categories and their locations:

Business - S 1st St. (between Main and Illinois)

Individual - S Riverside Ave. (between Main and Illinois)

Clubs/Not-for-Profits/Schools - S Riverside Ave. (between Main and Illinois)

Mechanical/Mega - Lincoln Park, 450 W Main St.?

Family Zone?

The Family Zone, presented by St. Charles Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, will be located in Lincoln Park and will feature many family-friendly activities along with live entertainment. Some of the activities that will be featured include a magician, a stilt walker, and a giant bubble artist.

Live Entertainment
Enjoy live entertainment in Lincoln Park from local musicians and dance teams.

Giant Bubble Artist
Watch a bubble artist create giant bubbles in Lincoln Park. A perfect show for children to admire, chase, and pop bubbles!

Magic Show
Abracadabra! Be amazed by the talented magician Scott Piner as he puts on an interactive and engaging magic show that will wow children of all ages.

Activity Zone?

The Activity Zone, presented by McNally’s Heating & Cooling, will be located on Riverside Avenue. The Activity Zone will feature more family-friendly activities to partake in, including the Scarecrow in a Box, a Touch-A-Truck, a professional pumpkin carver, and several festive photo opportunities.

Festive Photo Opportunities
Stop by the different photo opportunities including straw sculptures from the U.S. National Straw Sculpting Competition in Mt. Morris, Illinois, to capture a fall family photo. Presented by Gerald Subaru, the Festive Photo Opportunity area will be available October 7th - 9th.

Professional Pumpkin Carver
The professional pumpkin carver, sponsored by Comcast, will be located within the Activity Zone on Saturday and Sunday, October 8th and 9th.

Scarecrow in a Box
The Scarecrow in a Box, presented by Anderson Humane, comes with everything needed to make a scarecrow - including panty hose, twine, an outfit, straw to stuff the scarecrow and directions. Make sure to stop by and purchase your Scarecrow in a Box on Friday thru Sunday.

Window Displays
Check out the fall window displays that St Charles businesses have created. The Fall Window Displays will be available October 7th - 9th.

Autumn on the Fox Art and Craft Show
Pottawattamie Park will host the Autumn on the Fox Art and Craft Show, which will occur on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The Craft Show will feature over 100 crafters with handmade products that are available for purchase. Click here to learn more.

Windy Acres Farm
Stop by Windy Acres tent, located behind the Municipal Building for fall décor and treats including donuts, hand dipped caramel apples, apple cider, fresh fruit pies, local jams, gourds, mums, and more!
