The Greenbelt Labor Day Festival was started in 1955 as a way of raising funds to build a Youth Center. It has been held every year since by the Greenbelt Labor Day Festival Committee, one of Maryland’s largest all-volunteer organized events.

Opening Ceremonies
6:30-7:15pm
Stage. Police and color guard. Introduction of dignitaries. Presentation of Outstanding Citizen Award, the major civic event in Greenbelt each year, honoring all the outstanding citizens who make Greenbelt great. Sign language interpreter on stage. National anthem to be sung by Maeve Ballantine.

Fast Eddie and The Slowpokes

Stage. Fast Eddie and the Slowpokes’ playlist is inspired by classic blues material from Chicago to West Coast Swing, Motown to Muscle Shoals, and all the rock ’n’ roll in between. Their goal is to get you up on your feet, and they never miss their target!

10-B Crescent Rd. Join the Greenbelt Museum for a history-filled walking tour. The tour will leave from the museum’s historic house at 10-B Crescent Road. Learn about Greenbelt’s unique design and why the community is a National Historic Landmark. The tour is free but space is limited, please register in advance via Eventbrite.

Children and Teen Pet Show

Community Center Lawn. All kinds, types, and sizes of pets. Children and teens bring their pets to register at 9:30am. Judging and awards at 10am. Greenbelt’s greatest pets get some well-deserved attention. Rain or Shine!

Sol Y Rumba Band

Stage. This musical ensemble is made up by some of the most talented Latin musicians in the D.C. metro area with extensive musical resumes. Founded in 1993 by singer-songwriter Maria Isolina, Sol y Rumba Band’s music ranges from cumbia, merengue, salsa and more.

Memorial Gathering

Grassy area behind Mother and Child statue. Come to honor those friends and relatives who have passed. There will be a motorcycle ride at 4pm, followed by a memorial gathering at 6pm. Please feel free to bring flowers to lay on the hill during the memorial service.

Sista Pat’s One Vibe

Stage. Entertaining audiences throughout the DMV for more than two decades, Sista Pat’s One Vibe offers a variety of musical flavors from blues, R&B, rock, pop, Motown, reggae, SOCA, latin and afrobeat. They appeal to every musical palette, so come get a taste of the band’s motto, “One TRIBE….One Vibe.”

“Tour De Greenbelt” Bike Ride

New Deal Cafe. Join Mayor Emmett Jordan, Mayor Pro Tem Kristen Weaver, and Jeff and Laurie Lemieux from Proteus Bicycles on a bike ride around Greenbelt. The ride will take place in two stages, both starting at the New Deal Cafe. The first stage will leave at 9am and go to Greenbelt Station neighborhood in Greenbelt West. The second stage will leave at approximately 10am and go to Schrom Hills Park. NOTE: this is not a supported ride and may not be suitable for families with very young children.

Ribbons will be awarded for the best entries in a number of categories, including flowers, vegetables, baked goods, canned goods, and needlework/sewing. Entries accepted 10-11:30am. Winners on display 1-4pm. All items must be picked up between 4-5pm.

The DC Road Runners Club is conducting its annual Larry Noel Greenbelt 15K Race and 3K Fun Run. As in past years, the race will start on Northway at 5pm, and the Fun Run will start near the Youth Center at 5:10pm. 66th Annual Greenbelt Labor Day Parade
10am-Noon
The parade will entertain you with a variety of groups, demonstrating our community spirit and accentuating our city’s diverse cultural background. The Greenbelt Police Department Color Guard will lead off the parade, which will include a pipe and drum corps, numerous local community groups and businesses, fire trucks and local politicians. The Grand Marshal is Greenbelt’s Outstanding Citizen. Master of Ceremonies will be Dave Zahren, host of “It’s Academic.” Parade Route: Down Crescent Rd. from Greenhill to Southway. Parade is marshaled by members of the Prince George’s County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (PG-ARES) with assistance from the Eleanor Roosevelt High School National Honor Society.

Greenbelt Community Church, Corner of Hillside and Crescent Rd. After parade. This annual event offers Festival goers a barbeque sandwich or hot dog, baked beans, slaw, chips, drink, and dessert for one reasonable price.

Rockabilly Rebels

Stage. The Rockabilly Rebels are a four-piece group with two members who grew up in Greenbelt. Their show features the music of an era whose performers are as well known today as they were in their own time. Music from artists like Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry, Johnny Rivers, George Jones, Johnny Cash, and bands like The Ventures, Santo and Johnny, The Surfaris, and many more.

Patty Reese and Friends
3:30-6pm
Stage. Known for her Americana Blues style, Mid-Atlantic favorite Patty Reese has won 17 Washington Area Music Association Awards, (Wammies), including Artist of the Year and two-time Songwriter of the Year. Her virtuosic, dynamic vocal ease, solid guitar work, and engaging stage presence have audiences, critics, and DJs giving high praises and international airplay.
