August 1, 2022

From: Sioux Empire Fair

Schedule of Events:

Friday, August 5, 2022

8:00 PM - 11:00 PM: Old Dominion

Old Dominion and Ryan Griffin are set to perform at W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds on Friday, August 5th during the 83rd Annual Sioux Empire Fair. Tickets start at $39.00 plus applicable fees. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 6th at 10:00am. Previously purchased tickets will be valid for this date.

About Old Dominion:

Since breaking onto the country music scene in 2014, Old Dominion — reigning two-time ACM and CMA Vocal Group of the Year— have notched seven No. 1s at country radio, surpassed one billion on-demand streams, singles “No Such Thing As A Broken Heart” and “Written in the Sand” earning Platinum certifications and “Hotel Key” earning a Gold, from their Gold certified sophomore album Happy Endings, and headlining arenas and amphitheaters across the globe. In early 2018, when Old Dominion regrouped to begin writing and recording what became their lyrically self-aware and effortlessly melodic stunning self-titled third LP, they once again fed off each other and their tight-knit relationship to craft their most striking songs yet.

“We went in there with whatever instruments we happened to own ourselves, we wrote, we recorded and that’s what we sounded like,” Tursi recalls of the band's initial studio session for their highly-anticipated new 12-track album, available now via RCA Records Nashville. “It was just honestly, so refreshing.”

About Ryan Griffin:

Already a hitmaker with a #1 smash under his belt, Red Street Records Country singer-songwriter Ryan Griffin is poised for a Country breakout in 2022. With his new debut project, produced by Busbee (Maren Morris, Gwen Stefani), the Florida native adds the soul of R&B to the honest universality of Country, forging a mix of romantic fun landing somewhere between Keith Urban and Brian McKnight. Growing up on his family’s farm and moving to Music City at the age of 17, Griffin made his first mark in 2016 as a co-writer of Kelsea Ballerini’s PLATINUM-certified #1 single “Dibs.” Gaining heat on multiple platforms, Griffin has been featured as a SiriusXM Highway Find and racked up more than 15 MILLION streams on Spotify alone with infectious tracks including "Going Going Gone," "Down", "One Prayer Left", "Name On It" and "Right Here Right Now." Recognized as one of Rolling Stone’s "10 New Country Artists You Need to Know,” he has opened massive concert dates for Ballerini, Lady Antebellum, Old Dominion and Cole Swindell.

8:00 PM: Justin Moore with special guest Julie Eddy

Chart-topping powerhouse Justin Moore will perform Saturday, August 6 on the Billion Automotive Main Stage during the 2022 Sioux Empire Fair. An Arkansas native who grew up idolizing Dwight Yoakam and Keith Whitley, Moore knows a thing or two about hit records, starting with his first country #1 with “Small Town USA,” the breakout single off his 2009 self-titled debut. The record went platinum, as did its 2011 follow-up, ‘Outlaws Like Me,’ which yielded yet another #1 single with “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away.” In 2014, Moore landed the coveted New Artist of the Year trophy at the ACM Awards after releasing his critically acclaimed third album, ‘Off The Beaten Path,’ and in 2016, he dropped ‘Kinda Don’t Care,’ his third consecutive #1 record. There’s more #1’s to come on his latest album ‘Late Nights and Longnecks.’

“Justin Moore is a Country Star, there’s no doubt”, says fair manager Scott Wick. “Adding him to our 2022 lineup is turning this fair into one of the most well-rounded grandstand events we’ve been able to offer. Anytime you can combine classic rock with old and new country, we have something for everybody and that’s our ultimate goal!”

With enough energy to blow the roof off any bar on Broadway and vocals that will stop any passerby, Julie Eddy is bound to leave an impression on anyone who sees her perform. As a full-time artist and songwriter, she has made a name for herself by wearing her heart in her lyrics and pairing them with melodies that stand the test of time. After hearing Eddy's unique sound, influenced by both the pop and country worlds, you will quickly learn that no topic is off limits and find nods to her life and the lives of her loved ones in every song she pens.

Julie started performing at an early age and spent most of her teen years singing for anyone who would listen, in any venue that would lend her a microphone. Born and raised in a small town in South Dakota, she played for bars, restaurants, weddings, and events in her hometown before landing a shot on bigger stages. Eddy's largest shows to date involve opening for award-winning artists including John King, Granger Smith, Brett Young, and Grammy-Award winning duo Dan + Shay.

There's no sign of Eddy slowing down any time soon. She has kept the momentum full-speed ahead when it comes to her own music, working with award-winning producer Ilya Toshinsky on her newest single "Denim", released June 24, 2022.

Justin Moore is FREE with paid fair admission on the Billion Automotive Main Stage! Fair admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 - 12, and free for children ages 5 and under. PIT Passes are $20+fees in advance per person, per event, and will be on sale Tuesday, July 5, online only, at SiouxEmpireFair.com. Tickets at the door are $25 per person, per event.

8:00 PM - 11:00 PM: 38 SPECIAL w/ American Scarecrows

The Sioux Empire Fair is proud to welcome 38 SPECIAL to the Sioux Empire Fair on Sunday, August 7, 2022. The show is FREE with paid fair admission on the Billion Automotive Main Stage! Fair admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 - 12, and free for children ages 5 and under. Pit Passes for the concert can be purchased and go on sale Tuesday, July 5th online only at www.SiouxEmpireFair.com

After more than four decades, 38 Special continues to bring their signature blast of Southern Rock to over 100 cities a year. At each and every show, thousands of audience members are amazed by the explosive power of the band's performance.

Their many Gold and Platinum album awards stand in testament to the endurance of a legendary powerhouse.

With sales in excess of 20 million, most associate the band with their arena-rock pop smashes, “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” and more – Timeless hits that remain a staple at radio, immediately recognizable from the first opening chord, and paving the way to their present-day touring regimen.

For 38 Special onstage, it is a celebration of camaraderie and brotherhood, a precision unit bringing the dedication and honesty to a long history of classic songs, as well as surprisingly fresh new material.

Since 1976, the band has released more than 15 albums. And from the start, they’ve toured relentlessly, bringing their signature brand of ‘muscle and melody’ to fans worldwide.

It is that steely determination that lives on in the hearts of these ‘Wild-Eyed Southern Boys.'

Listening to American Scarecrows’ music feels like late nights spent with your friends in hopeful revels, reflective pangs, and vulnerable heart-to-hearts. The Minneapolis trio-singer-songwriter Seth Davin on guitar backed by the rhythm section of Allen Maier on drums and Matthew Broadbent providing the low end – matches their storytelling with an indie-pop sensibility, rounded out with tastes of folk-rock, country, and Americana. Their straightforward pieces greet listeners with evolved emotions and earnest solidarity. Bassist Broadbent spent years touring with Somerset (Epitaph/Punknews Records), while Davin and Maier logged many miles touring across each of the lower 48 as half of Dropping Daylight (Sony/Octone). Now the band is reuniting after a three-year hiatus to share the next chapter of their story with the Minnesota music scene and beyond.

This group only makes considered moves and refuses to compromise their craft to fit general one-size-fits-all models or modes. In a CityPages interview ahead of their last album release, Davin simply stated “You can only be the artist that you are” and this refreshing honesty and authenticity resound through their albums, Keep Your Devils Around (2011) and Yesteryear (2014). The band is back with their third LP entitled Drawing Little Pictures (2022). Fans of The Wallflowers, Band of Horses, and The Jayhawks will definitely find a place on their playlists for American Scarecrows

38 SPECIAL is FREE with paid fair admission on the Billion Automotive Main Stage!

The Sioux Empire Fair is pleased to announce three iconic artists, Shenandoah, Billy Dean and Wade Hayes – known as the Country Comeback Tour – together for one great night of number one hits, on Wednesday, August 10th.

GRAMMY, CMA and ACM-winning hitmakers Shenandoah, fueled by Marty Raybon’s distinctive vocals and the band’s skilled musicianship, are celebrated for delivering such hits as “Two Dozen Roses”, “Church on Cumberland Road” and “Next to You, Next to Me” as well as such achingly beautiful classics as “I Want to be Loved Like That” and the GRAMMY winning “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” duet with Alison Krauss.
