Alameda Free Library Resources For TK-8 Educators September 2022

Schools and Libraries

September 13, 2022

From: Alameda Free Library

Beginning Monday, September 12, Alameda Free Library will increase the number of hours it is open to the public.

The Main Library will now be open on Monday and Tuesday mornings and will be adding an extra hour on Sundays. The West End and Bay Farm Island branches will now be open late on both Monday and Tuesday evenings. Creating a more consistent schedule across all three locations will allow the library to increase patron access to in-person services, schedule a wider variety of storytimes, host more class visits, and offer more programs to working adults – not to mention make it easier for people to remember when the library is open.

There's a new storytime schedule, too!

Our new storytime schedule begins Monday, September 12th. With more open hours, Alameda Free Library is able to offer the community more storytime options, make it easier for families to attend programs, and decrease overcrowding at some of our more popular sessions. Please visit https://www.alamedafree.org/Events-directory/Calendar for days, times, locations and details about each of our storytime offerings. Click here for a flier!

Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Alameda Free Library, all library programs are free and open to the public. The Main Library is located at 1550 Oak Street and is served by AC Transit routes 21 and 51A. West End Library is located at 788 Santa Clara Avenue. Bicycle parking racks are available at both libraries. Bay Farm Island Library is located at 3221 Mecartney Road. All three locations are wheel-chair accessible. For more information on library programs, visit https://www.alamedafree.org/Events-directory/Calendar or contact the library at 510-747-7700

We're Celebrating Dot Day All Week!

Celebrate Creativity, Courage & Collaboration with us!

The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing, which has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the globe. We're celebrating all week long at the Main Library with crafts inspired by The Dot! Come make YOUR mark at the library!
