On October 21, 2022, it was announced that Sierra Business Council (SBC) has been selected by state leaders to serve as the convener and fiscal agent for the "Eastern Sierra Region", which includes Amador, and six other adjacent counties. SBC has been awarded a grant in the amount of $5 million dollars to support sustainable and resilient regional economies for all seven counties. The Community Economic Resilience Fund (CERF) is a statewide program that was created to promote a sustainable and equitable recovery from the economic distress of COVID-19 by supporting new plans and strategies to diversify local economies and develop sustainable industries that create high-quality, broadly accessible jobs for all Californians.

In this role, SBC will facilitate the initial CERF planning phase, and provide guidance to develop the region's roadmaps, including a strategy and recommended series of investments. Following this planning phase, the program's implementation phase will begin in 2023 and provide $500 million to fund projects identified by a diverse High Road Transition Collaborative (HRTC) Council and a series of topical committees. To do this successfully, SBC plans to build upon the skills and knowledge of local organizations and on-going regional processes through an inclusive, equitable, transparent, multi-lingual, data-informed planning process.

The next step in the process is to form the HRTC Council with 21 voting members who will provide representation from each of the various counties. If you are connected to local businesses, non-profit organizations, historically marginalized community members (including tribes), industry, education, or any other stake-holder (including residents) which are situated within Amador County, you are invited to consider becoming part of the conversation! To start, please review the planned governance model outlined by clicking here. You may also survey the organizational structure with the five additional committees that will be formed after the HRTC Council membership is complete.

If you are interested in providing input on the HRTC Council, be sure you can meet the time commitment and read through the tasks required of Council members. An application is available on this same website for you to submit to SBC. This is a fantastic opportunity for Amador County to have representatives at the table who can assist the entire region in determining which projects will move forward in the process! We stand to gain a lot from taking part in the HRTC Council, so we would like you to consider giving back to your community by guiding the conversation in a way that represents Amador County, along with the other counties in the region.

You can read more information in the press release, located by clicking here. More information is linked there as well.
