Clubs and Organizations

April 5, 2024

Volunteers make up an astounding 90% of the American Red Cross workforce. Every day, in communities across the country, these dedicated volunteers turn their compassion into action as they provide essential support to families in need.

April is National Volunteer Month, and we’re so incredibly grateful for their invaluable contributions to our lifesaving mission. Last year alone, over 265,000 people stepped up to volunteer and become an integral part of the Red Cross community.

This Volunteer Month, will you make a gift to support Red Cross volunteers as they deliver compassionate support to families in need from coast to coast?

If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, we welcome you to learn more and find a role that’s right for you!

Ukraine Crisis: Two Years Later

LEARN MORE

It’s been just over two years since the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine and the American Red Cross continues to provide assistance to those impacted both in Ukraine and neighboring countries where disaster responders from multiple Red Cross societies are still on the ground helping. The impacts of the conflict have taken a toll, particularly on the most vulnerable — children, people with disabilities and the elderly.

The global Red Cross and Red Crescent network has provided crucial assistance, offering not only cash for shelter, food and emergency supplies, but also implementing one of the largest cash assistance programs in the history of the network. This extensive support has been made possible in part by the generosity of the American people. Read more about the American Red Cross response here.

Volunteers Deliver Mission in Times of Disaster

JOIN TODAY

Did you know that 90% of our disaster workforce are volunteers? Our volunteers serve in numerous roles to help communities respond to and recover from disasters. Disaster Action Team (DAT) volunteers primarily respond to single-family home fires, our most common type of disaster response. Our Mass Care Sheltering teams ensure that those impacted by disaster have a safe place to sleep in Red Cross shelters. Disaster Assessment teams review damage and impact to begin providing casework and recovery support. Finally, we have specialized roles for health professionals in our Disaster Health Services and Disaster Mental Health activities. Join us as a volunteer today!
