Centennial Campaign to Reduce Childhood Drowning Expands

Join Us

Our groundbreaking Aquatics Centennial Campaign plans to double in size by the end of 2023. The campaign aims to reduce drowning rates in locations where it’s above the national average. This drowning prevention work comes at a time when national data shows that drowning disproportionately impacts underserved communities. As part of this expansion, the Red Cross plans to help teach 22,500 more children each year to become water competent. Additionally, each year, the campaign is expected to support the training of 900 lifeguards and 600 Red Cross Water Safety Instructor® professionals.

Know a community that would benefit from this program? Visit the Centennial Campaign web page and click on the “Join Us” to email us.

Dominique Dawes to Speak at the Tiffany Circle Summit

At this year’s Tiffany Circle Summit in Washington D.C., dedicated female philanthropists from across the country and around the globe will gather in support of the humanitarian mission of the American Red Cross. Through dynamic programming and inspiring speakers, they will learn how they can make change as a powerful collective.

On Friday, October 6, the Tiffany Circle Summit will host an evening at the National African American Museum. Attendees will hear from Keynote Speaker Dominique Dawes, who many know as a member of the gold-medal winning Olympics gymnastics team “the magnificent-seven.” Dawes was the first African American female gymnast to win an individual medal in Olympic gymnastics and since her historic career, she has focused on and will share about the power of resiliency and building community.

Register today for the Tiffany Circle Summit at www.tiffanycircle.org.

Last month, the Red Cross was on the ground responding to wildfires in Hawaii, thanks to generous donors like you. Make a monthly donation to prepare for and respond to disasters like this year-round. Receive a special Red Cross Pin as our way of saying thanks!

As we move forward in September, I’m looking forward to the beginning of the fall season, crisp nights, changing leaves and the excitement of a new school year.

Here at the American Red Cross, the fall is also a time where we continue to stand ready to respond in the face of hurricanes and other emergencies that may impact communities nationwide. While we never know when the next disaster will strike, we’re committed to providing lifesaving assistance at a moment’s notice.

Every day, we depend on the compassion of generous friends to help empower this important work. If you can, please consider making a gift today to ensure that families facing their darkest moments will find the care to see them through.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your continued support of those impacted by disasters big and small.
