Arts and Entertainment

January 30, 2013

From: Arts Foundation Of Cape Cod

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod and The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod have teamed up to support local artists through the "POSITIVELY DIFFERENT Arts Foundation Scholarship and Fellowship Program".  The inaugural program will award funding to five local students or established artists for undergraduate and post graduate studies in arts-related fields in 2013.

Scholarships will be provided in five different mediums - music, dance, visual arts, theater arts and creative writing.

The application, which includes an essay, can be downloaded at www.artsfoundation.org.  Those eligible for scholarships include any student who is graduating from a public or private school or a home education program living on Cape Cod in the spring of 2013 and who has been accepted into a degree program at an accredited college or university.  Those eligible for the Fellowship include artists in the five identified disciplines who are pursuing advance degrees.  The Fellowship recipient will become the "Artist in Residence" for the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod for one year.

"The Arts Foundation is thrilled to be partnering with the Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod to help realize a goal that we have had - establishing a scholarship for students on Cape Cod pursuing careers in the arts and helping working artists in all mediums to pursue advanced degrees through a fellowship," said Kevin Howard, Executive Director of The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod. "The AFCC recognizes that the Cape is blessed with many working artists and we look forward to that continuing to be true for generations to come."

Added Joel Crowell, President of The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod:  "The arts community is part of the backbone of Cape Cod and part of what it makes this such a special place to live and visit. The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod does a tremendous job of supporting, encouraging and providing resources for our local artists.  We're thrilled to partner with them in this wonderful new endeavor, which we anticipate will be an annual program."

Applications are due by April 1, 2013 and winners will be announced on May 15.  The scholarships will be awarded at a luncheon in the winners' honor.  For additional details on the program, visit www.artsfoundation.org.
