Coldwater, MI - Tibbits Opera House announced a transition in its artistic leadership. After several years of dedicated service, Artistic Director Peter Riopelle will be stepping back from his current position due to personal circumstances. Following Riopelle's departure, Chad Tallon, a seasoned member of the Tibbits community, will step into the role of Interim Artistic Director this summer.

Peter Riopelle has been an integral part of Tibbits Opera House for the past four years, during which he has brought his vision, passion, and expertise to the theatre. Under his leadership, Tibbits has seen remarkable growth and success, with critically acclaimed productions and a thriving artistic community. Riopelle's legacy at Tibbits is marked by his commitment to excellence and unwavering dedication to the arts.

Reflecting on his time at Tibbits, Riopelle expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Artistic Director. "It has been one of the greatest personal and professional honors of my life to have served this theatre and community for the past four years," said Riopelle. He continued, "Having helped lead Tibbits through the pandemic, restore her to a rich and thriving attendance, assembled some of the kindest, most diverse and talented companies ever, and presented some of our most successful and compelling productions to date, I hope I leave this beloved, sacred place healthy, thriving, and just a little better than I found her."

Chad Tallon, who has been a part of Tibbits for over a decade, brings a wealth of experience and passion to his new role as Interim Artistic Director. Tallon has served in various capacities within the theatre, demonstrating his deep commitment to its mission and values. As he steps into his new role, Tallon is excited to continue the tradition of excellence established by Riopelle and to lead Tibbits into its next chapter. "I owe so much of my success in this life to the people I’ve met in this community and the time I’ve spent here," said Tallon. "While the job won’t be 'simple,' it will be something I cherish to provide positivity and a solid voice of leadership for this summer."

The transition in artistic leadership marks a significant moment in Tibbits Opera House's history, signaling a new era of creativity, innovation, and artistic excellence. Christine Delaney, Tibbits Executive Director, reflects, “We are saddened by the departure of Peter, whose contributions have been invaluable to Tibbits.
