Winning Design to Appear on Pops by the Sea T-Shirts
Centerville, MA - Lauren Thomas, a Junior at Barnstable High School is the winner of the Arts Foundation Cape-Wide Student Art Scholarship Competition. Lauren's winning design will be featured on the official T-shirt commemorating the 29th Annual Citizens Bank Pops by the Sea concert.
Lauren and her school's art department will each receive a $500 cash prize for the winning design. In second place was Nicholas Glaser a Junior at Pops John Paul II High School who will receive $250.
According to President & CEO, Kevin Howard, "for the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, the T-Shirt Design Scholarship Competition continues to be a source of great excitement. To see the incredible talent of Cape Cod's Middle and High School students is very inspiring. We also applaud the wonderful work of the Cape's Arts Educators who continue to distinguish themselves themselves by providing the guidance to submit winning designs.
Tied for third place were two students from Falmouth High School's Graphic Design class, Kyle Hogan and Nate Rockwood who each won $100 for himself and his art department.
Six students received Honorable Mentions and prizes of $50 each, Alexa Johnson from Falmouth High School, Jordana Townsend of Sturgis Public Charter School West, Madaket Nobili from Cape Cod Lighthouse Charter School, Haley Collins from Nauset Regional High School, Robyn Whaples from Sandwich High School and Audrey Huklaowicz from Barnstable High School.
The students will receive their awards at a reception at the Osterville Library (43 Wianno Ave, Osterville) on Tuesday, May 27 at 5:30 pm. The reception will also mark the unveiling of the commissioned painting for the 29th Annual Citizens Bank Pops by the Sea Commemorative Painting by artist Matthew Shulz.
The 29th Annual Citizens Bank Pops by the Sea will feature Keith Lockhart conducting the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra joined by Celebrity Guest Conductor Charlie Rose.
